What is the Mediation process?

A mediator is a neutral person who does not make decisions or impose a settlement, but encourages and facilitates a mutually acceptable settlement to the dispute, which is decided by the parties themselves....

Both parties will have an individual session with the mediator during which time the mediator will gain a understanding of your situation, find out what is important to you and assess whether mediation is appropriate.

The mediator will then meet with you both and assist you to:

  1. identify the important issues
  2. find out what both of you need
  3. focus on what your children may need
  4. look at different options
  5. come to agreements
