What is Mediation?
Mediation can be a helpful way to assist communication between you and your ex partner or other family members at a time when emotions are high and communication is difficult. Above all mediation is an empowering process that works to protect and ensure that everyone’s needs are heard and considered with particular focus on the children. New family law changes mean that before any new applications can proceed in the family court a couple must be able to demonstrate that they have attempted mediation. When a couple has engaged in mediation with a Registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (mediator) they will receive a certificate which can then be taken to the family court for any new applications. |
