Urban Strategy

Urban strategy is about advising on big picture planning for larger urban areas to secure growth management objectives. This can be for areas of new growth, regeneration of older areas, or developing new policy or initiatives to achieve more sustainable growth patterns. This work requires good contacts within government agencies, an understanding of planning processes and political agendas, and an ability to get things done.

Our desire for growth presents many challenges for how to organise and manage urban areas at a broad scale. It is time to be clear - we cannot continue as we are. Climate change is real and with us already. The costs of car use are already impacting on the desirability of outer suburbs, and we need to make better use of existing urban areas. Communities are aware of it, and we need to face these challenges if we expect to create new communities that we ourselves might like to live in.
